What are the Rules?
You don’t need to memorize these, they are posted by the Crokicurl rink.
•Game is played with two teams comprising 1 or 2 players. Each player is limited to 1 quadrant. Each team has 8 rocks.
•A crokicurl shot is made by sliding the rock onto the playing surface, releasing from the outside of the 5 point ring. The shot can be made from any point along their assigned quadrant.
•The first player must try to score in the 20 point button. If the shot is successful, remove the rock from play and count 20 points.
•Subsequent shot must attempt to remove an opponent rock (unless there are no rocks on the playing surface). If a shot fails to contact an opponent’s rock, the shot rock is removed from play.
•Players may not enter the coloured rings (except to remove a 20 point button shot) or until all rocks are shot.
•Play proceeds in a clockwise fashion, alternating team and player.
•A rock that lands more than halfway over the starting line (outside of the 5 point ring) is removed from play.
•Scoring occurs after all rocks have been played. The team the higher score wins the round. The winner of the match is determined by the team who wins the most rounds, best of 1, 3, 5, 6, etc…
•Crokicurl is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be respectful of other players and limit your time to one hour.
Where do I get the rocks?
Just ask for the crokicurl rocks at the front desk. There are 24 in a laundry basket, and is easily carried by 1 or 2 people.
