The Acadia Community Association officially opened its newly renovated curling rink at the Acadia Recreation Complex on Saturday, October 18 with a celebration.
We were honored to have Hon. Jonathan Denis MLA, Calgary – Acadia, Christina Steed, Jonathan’s Assistant, Gian-Carlo Carra, Ward 9 Councilor and Kendra Varoney, City of Calgary, Community Recreation Coordinator for Acadia, all present for the occasion.
Also present and honored were representatives of Bry Sand Ice Arena – Bryan, Stephane and Glen for their extraordinary workmanship and commitment to the project.
The Acadia Community Association Board of Directors was represented by Keith, Barry, Phyllis, Frankie, Lil, Blair and Paula as well as the ARC Operations Manager Craig and Curling Coordinator Shelley.
To cumulate this project we had Honorable Jonathan Denis and ARC Seniors curler Dan Scrivens, who turned 90 in April, cut the ribbon that was being held by ARC youth curlers Danica and Cayden who recently turned 8. Thank you for being part of this special ceremony.
After moving to the Social lounge with introductions of speakers for the occasion, the official cake was cut by Jonathan Denis and Gian-Carlo Carra, signifying the renovated Acadia curling rink officially open.
